Formation of "Punkvoter" Newest Political Education Organization

Punkvoter is a progressive organization of musicians that are uniting
as a clear voice against the many chaotic policies of the George W.
Bush administration. Something must be done to get the young and
disenfranchised voters engaged in the political process. As both
musicians and concerned citizens we have decided to unite as one
organization.

"Our goal is to educate, register and mobilize over 500,000 of
today's youth as one voice." stated Fat Mike, owner of Fat Wreck
Chords, a San Francisco based record label, as well as the
singer-songwriter for punk band NOFX.

Bands involved in Punkvoter include NOFX, Green Day, Bad Religion,
Good Charlotte, The Offspring, Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Mighty Mighty
Bosstones, and Pennywise. Other people backing Punkvoter include
Wayne Kramer (MC5) Jello Biafra (Alternative Tentacles), Billy Gould
(Faith No More), and Brett Gurewitz (Epitaph Records).

Punkvoter plans to use this election as a way to get music fans
engaged in politics and evolve our movement into becoming involved
locally to influence real changes nationally. Punk icon Jello Biafra
stated, "I'm here because voting matters. I'm all for insurrection
in the street. But it doesn't accomplish much without insurrection
at the ballot box."

Punkvoter will be announcing a "Rock Against Bush" tour in targeted
states in the upcoming months. Bands involved in the tour include
NOFX, Against Me!, Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Foo Fighters, and
Pennywise.

"Traditionally I've stayed away from political activism, but the
policies and actions of the current administration have made me
realize that I no longer have a choice," stated Billy Gould of Faith
No More and CEO of Kool Arrow Records.

Punkvoter will be running interactive and creative voter education
programs by taking our message to the streets and letting our fans
and friends know why the electoral process is important to them. We
will work locally to educate today's youth about what is really going
on in our society. For more information visit the Punkvoter website
at www.punkvoter.com.
